Over 50 years of music. One unbroken legacy.
Founded in 1970 as Ibex Band and reborn in 1981 as Roha Band, Selam Seyoum Woldemariam, known as Selamino, and Giovanni Rico were there at the beginning, helping define a generation of sound. Giovanni laid the rhythmic foundation with bass lines that reinvented traditional Ethiopian melodies as dance music. Selamino modernized the guitar work that influenced scores of musicians and shaped the popular sound of Ethiopia for decades. Together they backed over 250 albums and provided the musical backbone for legends like Aster Aweke, Tilahun Gessesse, and Mahmoud Ahmed. They created music that carried the soul of a nation, crossed oceans, and never left the hearts of the diaspora.
On July 3rd, they come to Minneapolis.
And this night is different.
Both co-founders on the same stage. Selamino on guitar and Giovanni Rico on bass. Together again, performing live at Icehouse.
With the ESFNA tournament bringing thousands to Minneapolis, whether you grew up with this music or are hearing it for the first time, this night is for you.
